Welcome to the first edition of the Warbird Heritage Foundation newsletter, "The WHF Hangar"!
We hope to periodically
bring you up to date on events at WHF including airshow news, the status of our aircraft, new additions, and other interesting
news items. As always, any comments are greatly appreciated.
The 2007 airshow season has been very exciting for us. Our F-86 Sabre has been warmly received at airshows all summer long.
In June, we were honored to be asked by the Air Force Materiel Command to bring the Sabre to Wright-Patterson AFB
to participate in their 60th anniversary airshow. The next weekend the Sabre appeared at the Battle Creek airshow,
where the Hoppers flew as the opening act on both Saturday and Sunday. The Hoppers received many compliments on their
L-39 routine.
In July, the Sabre flew at "Thunder over Michigan",
AirVenture 2007 at Oshkosh, and the Selfridge Air Show in Michigan.
Many excellent pictures of the F-86 flying at these and other shows, including a Heritage formation with an F-22 Raptor and a P-38
Lightning from AirVenture 2007,
can be found on
AirShowBuzz.com
and on
FenceCheck.com.
All of the WHF warbirds will be on display or flying at the
Waukegan Airshow which takes place on Saturday, September 8th. You are all invited to attend.
Many thanks to David Staffeldt, our Director of Maintenance, and Tom Patt, our Aircraft Mechanic, for an outstanding job
in performing our Sabre annual inspection this year. They did a very "deep" annual and took pictures all along the way.
They posted all of the pictures on the Warbird Information Exchange (WIX) so warbird enthusiasts from across the country
could follow along
during the course of the annual. It was a big hit on the WIX website and received over 17,000 hits.
Our website has been updated with more features and pictures for your enjoyment. We now have a free downloadable
screensaver featuring great pictures of all our aircraft. It is available in both Microsoft
and Apple formats. We encourage you to download it. Just click on the link
in the "Latest News and Announcements" section below to download yours. We hope you enjoy it!
Regards from all of us here at the Warbird Heritage Foundation.
